The Transit of Large Hand

Mayflies have one of the shortest life-spans of any insect, with some varieties living only thirty minutes or so. Most of that time, I presume, is spent looking for a mate, so these two horology-minded guys probably are goners when it comes to the gene pool.

The transit of Venus was sort of cool though. I couldn't see much, but it's a good conversation piece. I've been telling all of my friends that I saw it.

Room for a third?

The question you never want to hear while you're dancing.

Solar eclipse

We had a solar eclipse yesterday, and everybody, including me, was excited about the idea that the sun was about to disappear. We were all in a good mood, standing in the grass and staring at the sun together even though they say not to. l think that if everyone was as excited about the sun's presence each day as we were about its disappearance yesterday, the world would be better off in general. Also, after yesterday, I think it would get really cold and pretty much suck if the sun were to ever actually disappear.
